It is not enough to be satisfied with little. Even the bible supports advancement and prosperity. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper… IIIJn vs 2. This is the New Testament telling us that it is pertinent to prosper and progress and not get satisfied with good when better is possible. Even in the Old Testament the sons of the prophet got tired of their small abode.
“2Ki 6:1 And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us- vs 2 Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.”
These sons of the prophet got tired of their small abode and decided to build a place where they would have bigger space. They got dissatisfied with the status quo. They asked the man of God and he was in support of it. God is always in support of breaking boundaries, of doing great things. People who get dissatisfied with their present conditions are those who begin to seek to go to the next level.
3 And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go. 4 So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood. 5 But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! For it was borrowed. 6 And the man of God said, where fell it? And he showed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim. 7 Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.
THOSE WHO WANT TO GO TO THE NEXT LEVEL DO NOT
- REMAIN IN ONE PLACE; ARE NOT STAGNATED AND ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH LITTLE SUCCESSES
Whenever you get satisfied you stop thinking of moving forward. They saw the need to go ahead even when they had somewhere to abide already. They also discovered that the space they had already was too small to accommodate expansion. That you made a thousand dollars ($1000) last year, should encourage to make more next year. Let your previous success be a challenge to greater success. Do not wait till you get large start-up capital to begin with your business ideas. You can start your great businesses in small ways. Great entrepreneurs do not remain subordinates forever and are not afraid to take up their destinies. They are ever creative, always thinking of new ways to do things.
2. GIVE UP
The ones that did not have an axe borrowed. When one wants to go to the next level, he cannot allow lack to pull him down. Start-ups are usually small, and can be boosted. If one’s finances are not enough, once the goal is clear, and you believe in your capabilities, getting some form of financial help would not be a problem. I perceive that they who borrowed axe heads must have thoroughly convinced the owners to take it by the water side. Convince yourself before embarking on any plan. The one that borrowed and met with mishap, his borrowed axe head fell into water. Everything will not go to plan. It doesn’t mean one should be afraid to plan or give up when misfortunes are encountered.
3. DO THINGS NOT BEFORE THEY SEEK KNOWLEDGE:
From vs 3, they could have gone without the prophet but one of them asked him to come and the prophet was willing. The man of God, be he a pastor, a priest, one who God uses to work in your life is indispensable to your success. We have friends who would advise us and counsel us rightly, but only a spiritual figure can guide us concerning the mind of God. Knowledge can be derived from books concerning the particular field you want to venture into. Do not act without learning, but you have to understudy other people’s successes and read books of others’ experiences. This will guide you away from mistakes others made. We have to trust that, having sought God’s revelation, through praying and other means, He will show up in our time of distress
Our faith should be that of what happened in v7, the impossible happened. When our plan fails, when we lose, we as Christians don’t despair because God is capable of doing the impossible. Fear of failure can be dangerous to our venturing spirit. We should work with caution, but in any case, we should not be afraid to take risks.
